tree, i know your branches, i've memorized your silhouette. know the way you hold the sky by heart. have heard you murmuring secrets to the roof. 'don't mind me' is my way of saying: 'please tell me again. oh tell me, tell me, tell me again.'

tree, i know your branches,
i’ve memorized your silhouette.
know the way you hold the sky by heart.
have heard you murmuring
secrets to the roof.
‘don’t mind me’
is my way of saying:
‘please tell me again.
oh tell me, tell me, tell me again.’

do they arrange themselves just so? do they sense their rhythm of shadow space return against the sky? do they know we are down here reading a grammar in their gathering, teetering, day after day, along lines stretched in our attempts at pecking out some meaning in our own language of landing?
